Sudden Death

From: The Oakland Daily Transcript, 19 Jun 1869, Page 3, Col. 1

Sudden Death-A Mrs. Pierce died last night, quite suddenly, at her house, corner of Sixth and Clay streets, from congestion of the brain. All persons who have resided in Oakland for any length of time will remember the old lady and her husband, he always ready to do a bit of gardening, and she going out to day's work, or taking in washing. Their industry secured to them a handsome little property. A few months since the old husband died, and now the wife has gone to meet him who was so long her companion and comforter, and without whom her happy life was burdensome and unhappy.
