Had Been Resident of State for Forty Years; Funeral Monday<br />

After three weeks' illness Mrs. Genevieve M. English died at her late residence, 128 Tenth street, yesterday morning. She was the widow of William D. English, at one time a prominent Democratic politician and surveyor of the port at San Francisco under President Cleveland.<br />
<br />
Mrs. English has been a resident of California for upward of forty years. She crossed the isthmus of Panama in 1856, accompanied by her parents, who were wealthy plantation owners of St. Louis.<br />
<br />
Mrs. English was 62 years of age and is survived by seven children, William D., Samuel M., Munro, Lloyd, Gladys, and Christine English, and Mrs. E. W. Hinds.<br />
<br />
The funeral services will be held on Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rev. Father Dempsey officiating. After a period of illness covering four months, Johnson L. Callison passed away at his late residence, 378 Thirtieth street, yesterday afternoon, aged 71 years. He was a native of Indiana.<br />

Callison was an old-time mining man, having associated with Governor Odie of Nevada in mining deals. For a time he resided in Hawthorn, Nev. He is survived by a wife, Emma M. Callison, and three sons, Lloyd M., Harry M., and Cecil L. Callison.<br />
<br />
The funeral will take place from the family residence tomorrow at 1 PM under the auspices of the Alameda county bureau of relief, Knights of Pythias. ALAMEDA, Feb. 2?.-G. M. Knapp, living at 1410 Lynde street, Fruitvale, was buried today, services being held at the Knapp home. He was a Civil War veteran, belonging to Joe Hooker Post of Alameda, and the funeral services were under the post auspices, a firing squad and bugler from Company G. N. G. G. being supplied by the Grand Army post. Knapp formerly belonged to the Point Arena Post, G. A. R. He was formerly a member of the Point Arena lifesaving crew, and for many years he worked at occupations which kept him close to the edge of the ocean. Bernard Ryan of Toronto, Canada, the fiance of Miss Georgia Cope, has arrived, and is a guest at the Cope household on Euclid avenue. The wedding is to take place February 26 and will be a quiet home affair, witnessed only by the relatives and closest friends. Miss Vera Cope will be her sister's bridesmaid. The bride-elect is the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Cope, and is prominent socially and musically. Bernard is one of the prominent lumberment [sic] in Toronto, Canada, where he and his bride will establish their new home. Mrs. David Hartley is coming from her home in Seattle to be a guest at her sister's wedding, and will remain with her family a month or so.<br />

Another wedding on March 14 is that of Miss Roberta Gould, and Warner E. Brittain at All Souls' Chapel, Berkeley. Miss Henrietta Gould will be her sister's only attendant. Emmet R. Fertig of Stanford University, a fraternity brother of Brittain, will be his best man, and the four ushers will likewise be fraternity brothers. Wilson S. Gould, an uncle of the bride-elect, will give her in marriage. Mr. and mrs. John B. Brittain, parents of the bridegroom-to-be, will be present, the mother having already come from Pittsburg a few weeks ago, and the father is now on his way to the coast. Miss Gould is the daughter of Mr. and mrs. George S. Gould, and a popular member of Berkeley's younger set.
